Last weekend (24-26 May) I attended the East European Comic Con in Bucharest, Romania, and what an experience it was. Three days jam-packed with entertaining panels, great actors, good food, cool merchandise, and of course, amazing cosplays. The inspiring East European Comic Con cosplay is reason enough to attend.
I myself went for a Bellatrix cosplay (and managed to get her on the Iron Throne). Nonetheless, I’m not here to talk about myself, but to show you the 18 loveliest cosplays I saw that stuck with me. So, in no particular order, here we go!
18 East European Comic Con Cosplays I Loved
1. Daenerys Targaryen (Game of Thrones)
I have to confess I was expecting many more Game of Thrones cosplays this year, and I didn’t get to see that many, but I couldn’t not include this gorgeous Daenerys in her by now famous wedding dress.

If you want to dress up as Khaleesi as well, you can order both a Daenerys Targaryen dress and a traditional silver-white wig online.
2. Rey (Star Wars)
One of my personal favorite East European Comic Con cosplay this year, this Rey costume is simple yet very effective. It’s all in the accessories (lightsaber) and attitude, as you can see from the image below. Of course, it also helps that the cosplayer actually looks a bit like Daisy Ridley as well.

You can start your own Rey costume by purchasing a lightsaber, and you can even find Rey’s full costume online.
3. Melisandre, the Red Woman (Game of Thrones)
Another cosplay I was looking forward to (especially since one of the guests at this year’s EECC was Carice van Houten, none other than the Red Woman) was Melisandre, and I was not disappointed. From the dress to the necklace and the hair, this cosplayer had it all.

It should come as no surprise that you can just order your very own Melisandre dress and necklace if you want to replicate this costume.
4. Sadie Adler (Red Dead Redemption 2)
For a background of the character of Sadie Adler, as well as Ioana’s motivation for cosplaying her, I’m going to leave you with a direct quote from the cosplayer herself.

“Sadie is a central character in the Red Dead Redemption series. Once happily married to her husband, Jake Adler, she becomes consumed by the desire for revenge after the O’Driscolls kill him. Empowered and trigger-happy, Sadie is definitely the wrong woman to cross, a great friend to John & Arthur, and very loyal to her gang. The reason I wanted to do this cosplay, despite the fact that it’s very easy to mess it up, is because I think we share a likeness (physically and mentally). “

While I couldn’t find any full Sadie Adler costume online, you can make your own by ordering the pieces separately. Start with the signature Sadie Adler hat and go from there.
5 & 6. Snow White and Prince Charming
You can’t get any more traditional than Snow White and Prince Charming, yet this couple managed to knock it out of the park with their rendition.

If you have a comic con coming up and you want to go with a great couples costume, get to ordering a Snow White dress and Prince Charming suit (there are so many variations out there).
7. Star Trek Commanders
8 & 9. Poison Ivy and Two-Face (DC Comics)
DC Comics’ very own Poison Ivy and Two-Face definitely turned heads at this year’s East European Comic Con.

While these costumes are definitely hard to replicate since it’s clear the details make the difference (especially in the case of Two-Face), you can still find Poison Ivy dresses and Two-Face costumes ready-made online.
10. Abyss Watcher (Dark Souls 3)
Remember Ioana, the Sadie Adler cosplayer? Well, Sadie Adler is not the only character she cosplayed at this year’s East European Comic Con. Here’s what she has to say about this particular cosplay.
“I have always been a huge fan of the Souls series. The Abyss Watchers, the main component of the Undead Legion of Farron, left a strong impression on me. I love their aggressive fighting style, similar to that of the Wolf Knight, tragic story, distinct fashion, with tall pointed hat and ultra greatsword, and the fact that their wolfblood links them directly to the soul of Artorias.”

As you can imagine, cosplaying an Abyss Watcher is far from easy. You have to put in a lot of work to get the costume just right. However, if you’re willing to pay good money for it, you can also find a pretty cool Abyss Watcher costume online.
“Cosplaying as a strong character is empowering and simply bad-ass. The costume itself was also a huge challenge since I am pretty new to cosplay. I poured 150+ hours into it and I am super happy with the result.”

11. Luke Skywalker (Star Wars)
Definitely one of the most cosplayed characters ever, Luke Skywalker needs no introduction. The cool thing about the character is you can cosplay both young and old Luke, and this talented cosplayer decided on the latter.

Again, there are plenty of Luke Skywalker costumes you can just order online, so all you have to do is pick your favorite.
12. Darth Nihilus (Star Wars)
The last Star Wars cosplay on this list, Darth Nihilus may not be as popular as Luke Skywalker, but he is definitely an inspired choice.

If you want to cosplay this as well, remember that it’s all about that scary Darth Nihilus mask. The rest is more or less a black cloak.
13. Dark Inquisitor Whitemane (World of Warcraft)
This World of Warcraft character is definitely one of the most spectacular East European Comic Con cosplay choices, and I can tell you this girl left people staring everywhere she went. Mind you, she’s not your typical Sally Whitemane, she’s Dark Inquisitor Whitemane, based on the artwork featured in “Project Ebon Blade.“

There’s no way a store-bought costume could ever come close to this one, especially since this is not the original costume, so if you want to go all out with a cosplay like this, you’re going to have to work to make your own. However, if you don’t care that much about going in a different direction than the original, you can find a classic Sally Whitemane costume online.
14, 15 & 16. Nier: Automata, Ciri (Witcher), and Impa (Legend of Zelda)
I just couldn’t decide between these three amazing ladies, so why not feature all three of them? From left to right we have Ciri (from Witcher), Nier: Automata, and Impa (from Legend of Zelda). All costumes are equally as detailed and eye-catching.

If you want to dress up as Ciri, you can order your very own Ciri costume online. A Nier: Automata costume is not that difficult to find either, and you can even buy a full Impa costume on CosplayMagic.
17. Iris von Everec (Witcher)
Lidia, the Iris cosplayer, shared a little bit about the character background and what drew her to it:
“She’s an aristocrat painter who married a commoner, Olgierd von Everec, for love. Olgierd, feeling like he wasn’t enough for Iris and being constantly looked down by her parents, made a pact with a demon and sold his soul for riches. However, the gold came with a price – his heart turned to stone. He eventually left her under the protection of two otherworldly beings. She died of a broken heart.”

If that story convinced you to cosplay Iris von Everec yourself, you can commission a dress in your size.
18. Isaac “Zack” Foster (Satsuriku no Tenshi – Angels of Death)
Zack Foster is one of the main characters of the Japanese horror adventure game Angels of Death (Satsuriku no Tenshi). I remember seeing this cosplayer perform on stage during the East European Comic Con cosplay contest and knowing I had to take his picture.

Luckily, you can find the trademark Zack Foster hoodie online, and if you do search intently, you might also find the full costume, red pants included.
Bonus: Bellatrix Lestrange on the Iron Throne
As a bonus, here’s a slow-motion clip of myself as Bellatrix Lestrange sitting on the Iron Throne just because I really like the way it turned out.

Conclusion
So, guys, what do you think of this year’s East European Comic Con cosplay? Overall, there were some pretty great costumes, and I definitely enjoyed seeing everyone display their creativity and love for the character they were cosplaying.
What’s your favorite one? Let me know in the comments. Mine has to be Sally Whitemane.
